Det ender med drab
Det ender med drab er en antologi af true crime-historier. Vi har vendt whodunnit-matricen på hovedet og afslører til at begynde med kun, at historien ender med et drab, men fortæller hverken hvem der dræber eller hvem der bliver dræbt, før historien når til det. Meningen er, at seerne skal møde og opleve karaktererne fordomsfrit - uden mulighed for at ‘vælge side’ baseret på bagklogskab - og være vidne til udviklingen frem mod drabet med det samme blik som de pårørende, som medvirker. Samtidig benytter vi nogle af krimiens genrekonventioner og tillader seerne at søge efter motiver og dyrker den suspense, som følger med at vide, at historien ender med et drab.
Første afsnit hedder ‘Liget i kummefryseren’ og er tilrettelagt og klippet af Sebastian Ottenstein. Det andet hedder 'Far, mor og morder', og jeg har selv klippet. Det tredje hedder 'Brødre', og Nikolaj Viborg har klippet. Se fulde credits på hvert enkelt afsnit.

DR3 presents a new true crime documentary format that explores the human drama behind a number of Danish homicides from the last 10-15 years.
We know them as murderers and victims from the lurid front-page stories of our tabloids. But who were or these people before they were reduced to a headline?
Murder is the ultimate crime but it often occurs well outside the traditional world of crime. Murder is committed among men and women, CEOs and the homeless, sports stars and junkies.
“It ends with murder” investigates the human background to a number of notorious or lesser-known Danish homicides. Viewers know that 'it ends with murder’ but our stories begin long before those involved become murderer and victim. The program presents them simply as people and intentionally keeps the audience in suspense, subtly discouraging them from ‘taking sides' in advance. The audience simply won’t know who did what to whom until the storyline allows.
“It ends with murder” unfolds the stories and characters of those principally involved. The viewer is invited to a guessing game: Who has a motive? Could it be the jealous ex boyfriend? Was the son killed while acting in self defence?
Perhaps the viewer hits the spot, perhaps not. The point of this suspense is to allow for the deeper layers of story and character to seep in. And for the viewer to be confronted with their own predjudice.
